Alexander Graham Bell once said ”When one door closes another opens. But we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we fail to see the one that has opened for us.”
we all have regrets in our life. Some people may have fewer than others while others might have uncountable regrets. And you must know that those having the most regrets are those people who never took the risk of trying something new, those who always prefer their orthodox life to a fresh experience, those who prefer to remain in the shade because of the fear of getting darker in the sun or having a burnt skin.
You must also know that many people having regrets are the ones who sacrificed their moments of joy for the sake of someone else, their children, their wife, their mom,….their family. But the fact that the have regrets, makes their sacrifice almost futile for throughout their whole life, for they are going to be cursing themselves why they didn’t took those guitar lesson or why they aborted the child or why they didn’t move in with their girlfriends.
As a teenager i have really few regrets. But i think that my upbringing has contributed a lot more than the simple fact that i’m too young to have substantial regrets. I’ve always been told by my uncles, my dad, my aunts, my cousins …etc that whatever decisions you take, make sure that in the future you’re never in a situation where you’re going to regret those. And even if you have regrets later on, tell yourself that you can’t go back on it, so better not think about it.
So in the first place i’ve been warned to take good decisions, take responsibility for it and if it was a wrong one, don’t look back on what you could have done, but what can be done.
I guess what i’m trying to say is that we’ll always have some kinda regrets but holding on to those regrets is the one thing that we shouldn’t do.
Another quote is coming to my mind right now, it’s more of a short poem i guess.
HE SLEPT BENEATH THE MOON
HE BASKED BENEATH THE SUN
HE LIVED A LIFE OF GOING TO DO
AND DIED WITH NOTHING DONE
I don’t quite remember where i took it from and if you analyse each phrase, its quite not relevant but the last phrase
”and died with nothing done”…..that is the ultimate result when a person lives with regrets.
So now on a more cheerful note, i hunted over the net and look for the surveys that listed out things that people regretted the most.
(A) that’s one of the results i found and the first one is surprisingly education.
